GPSA Meetings

Below are the TENTATIVE meetings dates for the GPSA during the 2022 calendar year. All meeting are held on the third Monday of the month in the GPSA at Massari Arena. Dates are subject to change if necessary.

Banquet Date/Application Deadline

Carol L. Cosby (Barker)

Carol Barker-CosbyCarol Barker-CosbyHigh School: Attended Pueblo County High School (PCHS) from 1979-83 .

Athlete (High School):
1980-81: Individual awards (Freshman year) - all city team, all-state team, Top Ten scoring leader, member of County GIrls State Championship in basketball - first in school history (all awards in basketball).
1982-83: Individual awards (Senior year) - all city team, all state team, Class 3A "Player-of-the-Year", voted most athletic for the senior class at PCHS. Team award - State Champion Runner-up (all awards in basketball)

Athlete (College):
While playing basketball at Adams State College in Alamosa, CO, Barker-Cosby was:
- A member of the 1984 NAIA District Champs.
- Earned "Player-of-the-Week" honors.
- Made the all-district basketball team.
- Selected selected first team all-conference.
- An Academic All-American.
- Voted by teammated as the Most Inspirational Player.
- All-American honorable mention
- All-conference and all RMAC honors

Coaching Background: Cosby, in addition to her duties as the Parks and Recreation Pueblo West Metropolitan District, also coaches volleyball, basketball and track at Skyview Middle School in Pueblo West. Below are some of her coaching achievements:
1999-2002 Championship team finishes in volleyball (6th/7th grade)
2002-2006 Championship team finishes in basketball (6th/7th grade)
2010-2014 City/County Volleyball Champions undefeated season, District/League Champs in track
2014-2015 Championship in Varsity B Volleyball and basketball, 2nd place District track
2015-2016 Championship in Varsity volleyball and basketball and city track champions
2016-2017 Championship in Varsity volleyball and basketball & runner up city champs in track

1994 Graduated from Grand Canyon University with honors
1995-Present Pueblo West Parks and Recreation Director
1995-Present - Annual Food Drives at Thanksgiving and Christmas to needy Pueblo West Families
1995-Present - Halloween Bash (an event free for community with 750+ children a year)
1998 Voted Employee of the Year for Pueblo West Metropolitan District
2003 Leadership Pueblo
2005-Present - Fishing Derby held in April of every year (250+ attendees)
2007 Taught Recreational Classes for CSU Pueblo
2012 Spoke in front of the Colorado House of Local Governments for additional Recreation money
2012 Maintains CSU-Pueblo pool for college and community
2014 Awarded Soaring Eagle at Pueblo West Metropolitan District
2016 Pueblo West Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year
2016 Women's History Outstanding "Woman-of-the-Year."

2003 - McCulloch Main Phase II  (CDOT)
2004 - Replacement of Playground facility (GOCO)
2004 - Fishing for fun grant  (Division of Wildlife)
2007 - Tennis Courts (4) (GOCO)
2010- Safe Routes to School Grant (CDOT)
2012 - McCulloch Main Phase III (CDOT)
2012 - McCulloch North Trail (CDOT)
2014 - Completion of Pueblo West's Community Park 
2015 - Completion of EastlWest Trail (CDOT - TAP project)
2016 - 2017 - two more upcoming grants - trail projects totalling $1,295,300
(CDOT - TAP projects approved for that given year); All projects were joint ventures between the Pueblo West Metropolitan District and the other entity listed.

Related Activities: Carol Cosby (Barker) is still very active in the area of recreation and sports. She has been in her current position as Pueblo West Parks and Recreation Director for 22 years. She volunteers her time to coach the youth sports teams in Pueblo West as well as still coaching at Skyview Middle School. She is very involved in swimming and hiking and occasionally will playa pick up basketball game. She recently received a certification to train youth to become lifeguards and also puts on clinics for all the youth sports coaches who coach for Pueblo West Parks and Recreation. The field of recreation is a lifetime commitment and is very demanding. She would love to coach at the high school level, however, she would not be able to give all of herself with the commitment needed at that level. Other than sports and activities she is very involved in her church and her family. She has two daughters, Chelsey and Meghan, who are in high school and enjoys taking time to watch them grow as a person through athletics.

Personal: Cosby has lived in Pueblo for over 40 years and is married to Dave Cosby... They have two daughters, Chelsey and Meghan.
