Robert William "Bob" Pobst
High School: Attended Pueblo Central H.S., graduating in 1941...Pobst earned nine varsity letters playing three sports for the Wildcats - Tennis (four letters), basketball (three letters) and football as a halfback (two letters)...On the tennis team, Robert won the Pueblo City Singles and doubles - Championship (under 18 years of age) in 1940.
College: Went to Pueblo Junior College (PJC), where he graduated in 1948...Robert continued his football career at PJC as the team's starting halfback his junior and senior seasons and gained recognition to the All-Conference team in 1947... He also played baseball and basketball...In 1947, in his only season on the baseball squad, Pobst was a pitcher and recorded three wins and one loss when throwing on the mound...Robert was a top five scorer in three years playing basketball at PJC and earned All-Conference honors all three seasons.
After College: Pobst played on three National Championship softball teams as a shortstop with Pueblo V.F.W. Post 61...He made All-American in 1952 when the team won its last National Championship.
Coaching Background: Robert spent two years coaching a Semi-Pro baseball team.
Contributor: Pobst spent five years officiating both football and basketball games...His last basketball game he officiated was at the State Tournament (Catholic) in Denver...Bob and his wife organized the Rick Pobst Memorial Golf Tournament in honor of their late son which is a major fund raiser for the University of Southern Colorado golf team.
Occupation: Robert was a banker for 40 years with Minnequa Bank of Pueblo.
