Attended Pueblo South H.S., graduating in 1988...Won seven letters while playing football (quarterback/wide receiver), basketball (forward/center) and track (pole vault) for the Colts.

College:
Went to Boston University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1992...Earned a full four-year (1988-91) scholarship to quarterback the football team which played at Division I-AA...Obtained a MA in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, in 2004.

Coaching:
● Coached at Marin Catholic H.S. (MCHS), located in Kentfield, CA first as a football assistant for two years (1992-93).
● Took over the program asthe head football coach for four years (1994-97).
● Assistant track coach coached track at MCHS for six years (1993-98) and basketball assistant for a season (1992-93).
● Mark moved back home to Pueblo in 1998 to become the head football coach for his Alma mater (Pueblo South H.S.).

● Three-time Foothills League "Coach-of-the-Year" (2000, 05, 07).
● Named the All-State Football Coach (2002)
● NFHS Coaches Association Football "Coach-of-the-Year" for Colorado in 2007
● While attending Boston University, Haering was selected as the Charles S. Powers Team Award for Leadership/Sportsmanship in 1991.
