GPSA Meetings

Below are the TENTATIVE meetings dates for the GPSA during the 2022 calendar year. All meeting are held on the third Monday of the month in the GPSA at Massari Arena. Dates are subject to change if necessary.

Banquet Date/Application Deadline

The deadline for nominations each year is Aug. 1.  The 2022 Banquet is tentatively set for Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2022. Go to the Application tab above to download and fill out an application today.

Kenneth Ross "Ken" Coatney

High School: Graduated in 1924 from Fowler H.S. tried to go to the Univ. of Illinois coaching school and was a unit short...Played one year (1923) of football for the Grizzlies...Coatney worked for one year (1925) and then entered Centennial H.S. and graduated in 1926...He played one year of football for the Bulldogs...Then Coatney had enough credits to go to the Univ. of Illinois.                                                    

College: Attended the University of Illinois.
 
Military: Served in World War II

Coaching Career: Coached the Pueblo Indians - American Legion baseball team in 1929 that finished as state champions...Served for six years (1932-38) as All-Sports coach at Pueblo Centennial H.S...Head football coach for the Bulldogs for six seasons (1932-37)... Compiled a 23-21-6 record.

Entrepreneur: Operated a Sports Store in Pueblo for 18 years.

Achievements: Was involved in the "Save Runyon Field" drive that raised $17,500 in 1958 and was the key to transfer field to Pueblo County...In 1959, the Runyon Field Committee formed - Ken a member.  Was at the field 16 hours a day in the summer...Baseball "dad" to many Pueblo youngsters.

Occupation:  Teacher/Coach - Centennial H.S. - Pueblo County Recreation Director - Entrepreneur - owner of Sports Store, 612 N. Main in Pueblo.

Personal: Passed away on Feb. 3, 1991
