Karen L. (Koshak) Griebel
High School: Attended Pueblo South H.S. (graduated in 1979)... Four-year member of the Colts gymnastics team (1975-78)... Placed second in all-around competition at the state meet as a senior and third as a junior.
College: Attended the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) graduating in 1983...Competed for four seasons on the Bears' gymnastics team (1978-82)...Went to the NCAA Nationals four consecutive years...Finished eighth on the balance beam as a sophomore...Qualified for All-American Status...Her coach at UNC considered her as one of the top 5 that she coached in 13 years at UNC.
Achievements: Spent eight years at the Pueblo School of Gymnastics (1967-75)...Griebel was one of the first gymnastics to qualify for Nationals Age 11 and Age 12 for the Pueblo School of Gymnastics...Participated in Junior Olympics swimming program for one year (1969)... Named the 1980 Sportswoman of the year in Colorado for gymnastics...Coached at Heritage High School, where her teams qualified for the State meet several times...Head gymnastic coach, Cherry Creek H.S. for the last 30+ years... While coaching the Bruins, Griebel's teams have captured the three state titles (1993, 1995 and 1998)... Her 1998 team set national record for team score with a 9.5 scoring average...
Personal: Lives in Littleton, CO...Karen is a recreational therapist with three children.
