GPSA Meetings

Below are the TENTATIVE meetings dates for the GPSA during the 2022 calendar year. All meeting are held on the third Monday of the month in the GPSA at Massari Arena. Dates are subject to change if necessary.

Banquet Date/Application Deadline

The deadline for nominations each year is Aug. 1.  The 2022 Banquet is tentatively set for Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2022. Go to the Application tab above to download and fill out an application today.

James "Newell" Hall

High School: Attended Pueblo Centennial H.S., graduating in 1938

College: Went to Pueblo Junior College the on to Wyoming University, graduating in 1942 with a degree in Journalism...Competed in football, baseball and track.   

Advanced Education: Studied Military Science at Princeton University, where he graduated in 1944
Contributor: Was an official on the Pueblo sports scene...Hall spent 33 years officiating football (High School and College Level), 25 seasons doing basketball games (high school, college and AAU and amateur games) and 10 years working baseball games (high school, college, Semi-Pro and Service Level)...He was the President of the Local Basketball Officials Group and a member of the Board of Directors Local and State Level...James was a member of the All State Games Committee, serving as a Charter Member, Past President, Member of the Executive Committee that was responsible for the Colorado Coaches Clinic and All State Games - Football and Basketball...Hall was also a Past Chairman and Trustee for the Al Kaly Shrine Temple's annual Football game for crippled children.

Achievements: Member of the 1997 Colorado Coaches Hall of Fame as the first non-active coach.

Organizations: Newell was a Past Potentate with the Shriners 32# Mason...Demo lay - Past Master Counselor and Chevalier and Representative... Member of the Steel City Kiwanis and Elks, Chairman of local school system’s Insurance Advisory Committee, Past President of Pueblo Chamber of the U.S. Navy League and past Vice President of the Pueblo Chapter of Association of the U.S. Army.

Occupation:  Sam Jones Agency, Inc.

Personal: Lives in Pueblo with his wife, Joan Roma.
