GPSA Meetings

Below are the TENTATIVE meetings dates for the GPSA during the 2022 calendar year. All meeting are held on the third Monday of the month in the GPSA at Massari Arena. Dates are subject to change if necessary.

Banquet Date/Application Deadline

The deadline for nominations each year is Aug. 1.  The 2022 Banquet is tentatively set for Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2022. Go to the Application tab above to download and fill out an application today.

George D. Amaya

High School: Went to Pueblo Centennial H.S... Graduated in 1938... Played basketball for four seasons (1934-38) and football at right end for three years (1935-37)... Played on the 1938 A.A.U team.

College: Attended the College of Polytechnic Engineering located in Oakland CA... College was interrupted by World War II

Boxing Highlights: Was the Colorado Golden Gloves 1939 Champion at 175 lbs...Amaya never lost a fight...While in the U.S. Army - 4th Army Area Champion...Fought in Madison Square Garden...Fought and Lost to Carman Garth who was ranked 16th in the World...Middle weight who had fought and lost to Billy Conn... Amaya's last fight was in Denver where he lost to “Radio Doolie”...He was encouraged to fight Billy Conn.

Occupation: State Patrolman, Pueblo County Commissioner

Personal: Lived in Pueblo and passed away in November, 1994...Was married to Betty Jones.
