High School:
Attended Pueblo Central H.S. and graduated in 1950.

Achievements:
High School:
● Played tennis for the Wildcats at No. 1 Singles in 1950
● Was the first Hispanic to win the State Tennis Championship at No.1 Singles, defeating Irving Hoffman in the semi-finals and Garth Jones from Boulder in the finals.

College:
Went to the University of Colorado (CU), graduating 1954...Played four years of tennis for the Buffaloes and helped lead CU to the Big 8 Championship.

Coaching Career:
● Worked as the head tennis coach at both Pueblo South and Pueblo Central high Schools.
● The first tennis pro to be hired and the Pueblo Country Club where he worked for three years.

Accomplishments:
● Formed the Luna Tennis Foundation which provided tennis opportunities for low-income, minority and inner city kids.
● Became one of the First Hispanics to become a USTA (United States Tennis Association) teaching Professional.
● Remains the only Hispanic ever to win the state high school Tennis Championship in the largest school bracket.
● Recognized as a leader in the sport of tennis and as such has been appointed to the USTA's National Minority Participation Committee.
