Attended high school in Kansas City, Missouri, graduating in 1953.

Went to Missouri State College (graduated in 1959).

Coaching Career:
● Head football coach of an undefeated Risley Junior High team in 1963.
● Worked for five season (1963-67) as an assistant football coach at Pueblo East H.S.
● Took over the Eagles head football coaching duties the following season (spent 15 years in that capacity: 1968-82).
● Led Pueblo East to two state play-off appearances and in 138 games coached, posted a record of 77-59-2.
● Spent six and a half years (1964-69) as the head wrestling coach at Pueblo East H.S.
● The 1964-65 Eagles wrestling team was undefeated in dual meets and won the District Championship.
● Compiled a 70-20 mat record.
