Brian D. Macartney

Before High School:
Played football (1964) and was a member of the wrestling team (1965) at Risley Junior High School.

High School:
Attended Pueblo Centennial H.S., graduating in 1968.

Achievements:
High School:
● Earned eight varsity letters, two in football (1965-67), three in wrestling (1966-68) and three in baseball (1966-68) for the Bulldogs.
● Named to the All-City, All-Conference (second team) and garnered honorable mention All-State on the gridiron in 1967.
● District Champion in wrestling (120 lbs).
● Played center field on the baseball squad, earning a spot on the 1968 All-South Central League team.

College:
Went to Colorado State University where he a member of the Rams wrestling team, lettering in his only season before transferring to Adams State College, here he graduated in 1973...Continued his post graduate studies Adams State College, earning a Masters Degree in 1980.

Related Activities:
Played Fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball for 16 years (1971-87).

Coaching Career:
● Started his coaching career at San Luis H.S., where for three years he was the head wrestling coach (1973-76), helping Dan Valdez to the state wrestling championship at 126 lbs.
● Moved on to Pueblo Centennial HS where he worked for seven seasons as the assistant baseball coach baseball coach (1975-81) and five years each as an assistant coach on the Bulldogs football team (1976-80) and freshman wrestling coach (1977-81).
● Moved across town in 1982 to become the assistant wrestling coach at Pueblo South HS for three years (1982-84) then took over the helm of the Colts wrestling program for the next three season (1985-87).
● Posted a dual meet record of 22-9-1 and coached Tim Urenda to State Championship at 138 lbs.

● Worked the sidelines officiating in football and the mats in wrestling.
