Dr. Tom Muhic

High School:
Attended Lakeside/Vineland H.S., for three years (1950-1953) before transferring to Pueblo County H.S., for his final year and graduating in 1954...Started in three sports for four years (football, basketball and baseball) and earned 12 varsity letters.

Achievements:
High School:
● As the Hornets quarterback, led them to it first undefeated regular season, but fell in a state playoff game to Durango 32-19.
● Captain and leading scorer of the first Hornet basketball squad.
● Played as an infield and pitcher on Hornets baseball team.

College:
Went Western State College, Gunnison, CO where Pete earned a BA in 1958...Played football (1954-56) and basketball (1955-58) for three seasons for the Mountaineers...Continued his post-graduate studies earning two masters degrees (Western State College - 1960; and Colorado College - 1967)...He also attended the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR and Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.

Coaching Career:
● Started his coaching career in baseball, leading Post 203 to the Colorado playoffs in his only two seasons he coached (1956-57).
● Served one year (1958) as an assistant baseball coach at Pueblo Catholic H.S., before taking over the head coaching duties for two seasons (1959-60).
● While at Pueblo Catholic H.S., served as an assistant coach on the Shamrock football team where the squad tied for the State Championship both years he was part of the staff (1958-59).
● Moved to Phoenix, AZ and was hired as an assistant football coach at Brophy College Preparatory, a private Catholic college preparatory school for seven years (1961-67).
● Left Brophy in 1967 and was named an assistant football coach at Glendale Community College (GCC) for 10 years (1967-77) in nearby Glendale, AZ.
● Took over as head coach of the GCC football program in 1968 and held that position for 13 years until 1980.

Honors:
● Pueblo County's First All-around Athlete Award.
● Received an Academic/Athletic Scholarship to Western State College.
● Graduated second in his class - First graduating class of Pueblo County High School.
● Class President senior year at Western State College (1957-58).

Occupation:
Worked as a teacher and Athletic Director at Glendale Community College in Glendale, AZ.

Personal:
Lived in Phoenix, AZ with his with Janet... Passed away on August 20, 2014 at age 78.
