● Lettered four years (1926-29) playing football (Halfback) and guard on the basketball team (1927-30) for the Bulldogs.
● Earned All-District and All-State honors in basketball in 1930.
● Also participated in track (discus and javelin).

Attended Colorado State University for four years but didn’t finish due to illness of his father.

● Three-year letterman (1930-33) on the Rams football team playing quarterback.
● His college coach, Harry Hughes stated "Bud Dammann was the best quarterback he has ever coached!"
