● Leading tackler on the team and earned a selection to the All-State football team in 1986.

Went to West Virginia University (WVU) and graduated in 1991...Played four seasons (and lettered) on the Mountaineers football team at linebacker.

● Against Rutgers Haering recorded 23 tackles, second highest total in BEC (1989).
● Selected to the 1989 Associated Press All-East and Academic All-East Team.
● Earned First Team All-American (Newspaper Enterprises Association/World Book) an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American (1989).

Started his coaching career at Hampton H.S. in PA, where he went 8-3 in his only season (1994-95) as the teams' head football coach..Haering has been the head coach football coach for 13 years at Mt. Lebanon H.S., PA since 1995 and has recorded a record of 86-35...
