High School:
● Four-year letterman on the Wildcats football team playing quarterback (1948-51).
● Helped lead Central to the South Central League Championship his sophomore year.
● Named All Conference quarterback in 1950.
● Played four seasons on Wildcats basketball team (1949-52).
● Also played 3rd base on Central's baseball team for three years (1950-52).
● Helped the Wildcats to the 1st CHSAA State Baseball Championship in 1950.
● Played American Legion ball during the summers.
● Chosen as the "Most Outstanding Athlete" at Central High School.
● Winner of the Clair Bee Sportsmanship Award (1952).
College:
Went to Pueblo Jr. College (PJC)...Finished his college education at Colorado State College (UNC) Greeley, CO graduating in 1956.

● Played basketball for two seasons at PJC and was named the co-captain (1953-54).
● Won the Bill McClatchey Trophy in 1954 for "Best Free Throw Percentage" of the year.
● Won the Harry Simmons Trophy "Dave Preston Trophy" as the best basketball "Player-of-the-Year".
Coaching Career:
● Coached several softball teams that participated in Regional & State Tournaments for seven years (1952-59).
● Teacher and coach for one year at Corwin Middle School (1958-59).
● Took over the reins of the Pueblo South baseball program in 1959 for four years (until 1962).
● Led the Colts to the 1962 South Central League Champions and a second place finish in the state tournament that same year.
● Named head football coach at Pueblo South H.S. in 1962 and coached the Colts for four seasons (until 1965), posting a record of 17-20-4.
● Served for nine years as the head basketball coach at Pueblo South (1967-75).
● Coached the Colts to three South Central League Championships, won the State 3A Consolation Championship, and placed 2nd at state.
● The 1975 Team has been considered, by many, the best team ever in Pueblo.
● Twice named the South Central League "Coach-of-the-Year" and Pueblo's "Coach-of-the-Year" four times.
● Coached the South All-State Basketball Team to victory in summer of 1972.
● Also spent two years (1995-96) coaching 7th and 8th Grade Basketball teams.

● Served as President of the Pueblo Study group from 1984-1985.
