● Earned All-Conference honors playing football at CC.
Coaching Career:
● Started his coaching career as a head football coach for four years (1961-65) at St. Mary's H.S. in Colorado Springs.
● Spent the next two years (1965-67) as the head football coach and assistant track coach at Palmer H.S. (Colorado Springs).
● Moved to Denver, CO from 1967-69 to take over the head football coaching ant athletic director duties at Holy Family H.S.
● Served as a graduated assistant for one season at Western State while working on his Master's degree (1969-70) before moving on to Durango, CO where he worked as the head football coach at Durango H.S. form 1970-71...High school football coaching record: 43-17.
● Came to Pueblo, CO where he spent the next 12 years (1971-83) as a football and track assistant coach at Southern Colorado State College (S.C.S.C. - now CSU-Pueblo).
● Took the reins of the men's and women's track and cross country programs at CSU-Pueblo from 1984-93.
● Coached RMAC outdoor track championship teams and five RMAC runner-up teams.
● Also worked in the Arena Football league with the Pittsburgh Gladiators (1987-89) and Cincinnati Rockers (1992-93).
● During his tenure, he produced 34 All-Americans in both track and cross country.
● Later served an an assistant to his son, Mark, on the football staff at Pueblo South H.S.
