GPSA Meetings

Below are the TENTATIVE meetings dates for the GPSA during the 2022 calendar year. All meeting are held on the third Monday of the month in the GPSA at Massari Arena. Dates are subject to change if necessary.

Banquet Date/Application Deadline

The deadline for nominations each year is Aug. 1.  The 2022 Banquet is tentatively set for Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2022. Go to the Application tab above to download and fill out an application today.

James Christopher “Christy” Bivin

High School: Attended Pueblo Centennial (graduated in 1966)...Lettered three years each (1964-66) for the Bulldogs in basketball (guard/forward), tennis (singles/doubles) and baseball (pitcher)... Bivin was in the Bulldogs starting pitcher rotation all 3 years....Played 3rd base or outfield when not pitching... Mostly a .400 batting average....Played every position at Centennial except catcher...Pitched one no-hitter....Captain of baseball team... Earned team's Most Valuable Player Award...Ability rating in tennis was a 6.0...Named team captain, state participant at #1 Singles...Earned seven high school letters and was awarded Most Outstanding Athlete at Centennial in 1966...Captain of Centennial’s basketball team in 1966..Team took 2nd place in the State Tournament...Named All-City....Inducted into the Centennial Athletic Hall of Fame in 1966...In American Legion baseball, Christy pitched a 7-inning game and faced 21 batters...One played got a single but was picked off of first base.                        

College: Went to the University of Northern Colorado (graduated in 1970)...Lettered all four seasons (1966-70) in baseball (pitcher) and two more playing basketball (guard) for the Bears (1966-68)...Rated as one of Colorado’s top baseball players in 1966...  Earned a place in the Bears starting pitcher rotation (all 3 years)... In Basketball, scored 26 points against Southern Colorado State College.

After College: Bivins spent seven years (1967-73) pitching for the Pueblo Diablos...Also played for the Colorado Springs Blue Sox...Christy beat the national Boulder Collegians  2-1...While playing for the Colorado Springs Blue Sox, Bivin made the all star team four time and the All-State tournament first team...Hit .600 during his last state tournament with four home runs...Was a regular .400 hitter.

Coaching Career: Spent 15 years (1970-85) each as the head tennis coach at both Coronado High School and Doherty High School...Coached three years each at Coronado High School as boys freshman basketball coach and at Doherty High School as junior varsity basketball squad (1970-73)... Spent four seasons (1970-74) as Coronado High School junior varsity baseball coach...Named "Coach of the Year" - 3 times for Tennis...Won three District Tennis Championships, one season undefeated  11-0.
