High School: Attended Pueblo East H.S., graduating in 1980...Lettered four years (1977-80) on the Pueblo East track team and was all-State in the shot put in 1978...Dan played three years and was a letterman on the Eagles football team, playing guard and linebacker fro 1976-80...Named to All-State football team in 1979...Also played basketball for two seasons (1979-80).
College: Went to the University of Southern Colorado (now CSU-Pueblo): Played for four seasons (1980-83) for the Indians...Dan was named to the All-America football team and the All-American Football Academic team (1983).
Professional: Played one season and was the defensive captain for the New York Giants in 1987.
Player/Coach/Owner: Put together and ran the Pueblo Crusaders - a Semi-Pro football for four seasons (1987-90)...Won the National Championship 1989...DeRose's squads beat teams from Oklahoma City, Los Angeles, Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs, West Palm Beach, FL., Dallas, and San Francisco...Runner-up National Championship 1990
Coach/Contributor: Head Coach/Owner/Player Pueblo Crusaders Semi-Pro (1987-90)...DeRose served for five years (1991-96) Athletic Director at the University of Southern Colorado.
