Bennie M. "Ben" Garcia
College: Attended the University of Southern Colorado...Played four seasons of baseball for the Indians (1974-78).
Playing Career: Played on various fastpitch softball teams manning either shortstop of second base for 31 years (1971-2003)...Garcia has made 30 appearances in the Amateur Softball Association and the International Softball Congress World Tournament...
Coaching Career: Hired on at Pueblo East H.S. to coach the girls softball team (since 1980) and the girls basketball team (since 2000)...Ben’s softball teams at East High School have played in four State Championship playoff games and one final 4 (four) playoff.... Ben’s 2004 Girls Basketball Team placed 2nd in State.
Official: Ben served as a Past President for basketball officials in the Southeast Region for 10 years (since 1995).
Honors: Ben was selected to the All-World Softball Team in 1982...He was inducted into the Colorado Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame on May 19, 2005...Garcia was inducted into the Pueblo Softball Hall of Fame in 2010.
Accomplishments: Garcia was instrumental in getting the Rawling's Girl's Fast pitch League going at CSU-Pueblo...He has held numerous Girl's fast pitch tournaments in Pueblo...Ben has given demonstrations, talks and held clinics for the Colorado High School Coaches Association.
Occupation: Worked at the Pueblo Chemical Depot for more than 15 years
Personal: Lives in Pueblo with his wife, Elizabeth.
