Before High School:
Played three years (1971-73) of American Legion baseball as a pitcher... Earned Most Valuable Pitcher, American Legion and All-Tourney American Legion Team.

High School:
Attended Roncalli and Pueblo Central H.S., graduating in 1973. Played baseball (pitcher) in high school, starting at Roncalli for a year and earning a varsity letter before transferring to Pueblo Central and play two more seasons (1972-73) earning two more letters...Also ran cross country at Roncalli for a year (1971) and earned one varsity letter.

Achievements:
High School:
● Was named to the All-South Central League Baseball Team and was the MVP of the State Tournament.

College:
Went to the University of Oklahoma...Played three years (1974-76) of baseball for the Sooners, winning three consecutive Big 8 championships and helping OU to three College World Series Appearances.

Coaching Career:
● Started coaching baseball as an assistant coach at Phillips University from 1982-83.
● Moved to Nevada to work as an assistant coach at the University of Las Vegas for two seasons (1983-85).
● Returned to Colorado to serve as an assistant coach at Trinidad State Junior College for two years (1985-87).
● Has worked in MLBs Toronto Blue Jays organization as an Associate Baseball Scout since 1995.

Achievements:
● Drafted and signed into professional baseball by the San Francisco Giants, by scout Gene Thompson, out of the University of Oklahoma.
● Class A - Professional baseball Midwest league Champions (Finished third in stolen bases in 1977 behind Ricky Henderson).
● Class A - California League, San Francisco Giants organization: Fresno Giants, "Player-of-the-Month" (June, 1977).
● Class AA - Shreveport Captains "Player-of-the-Month" (July, 1979).
● Class AAA - Salt Lake City Gulls (California Angels) "Player-of-the-Month" (Aug., 1981).
● Career .300 hitter in professional baseball for six years.
● Awarded the Greater Pueblo Sports Association for Outstanding Achievement in Baseball (July, 1974).
