GPSA Meetings

Below is a list of remaining meetings dates for the GPSA during the 2017 calendar year. All meeting held on the third Monday from Jan. to May and Aug. through Nov. in the GPSA at Massari Arena. Dates are subject to change if necessary.

George Luiz

High School: Graduated form Edison Technical & Jefferson H.S., in Rochester, NY...Played baseball and basketball.  


After High School: Luiz was a fast-pitch softball player for the "Super Bombers" from the Pueblo CO Air Base in 1945...George also played basketball for the American Legion for three seasons (1947-49) and the VFW-Post 61 for three years (1950-52).

Coaching Background: George spent seven years (1947-53) as a catcher/coach/manager for the VFW-Post 61...He was named to the All-American Team at Ft. Madison, Iowa in 1949...His VFW-coached team was the National Champions.

Accomplishments: Luiz officiated high school and college basketball games for 20 years (1947-67) and spent 10 seasons (1947-57) officiating high school and college football.  

What They Said: "Although George had a great athletic career, I believe his major contribution to the City of Pueblo began in 1975 when he accepted the position as Director of Pueblo County Parks and Recreation and is still very active in the Runyon Field physical plant and the supervision of the American Legion baseball and Bantam League Football programs." -- Tink Snapp  

Occupation:  Director of the Pueblo County Parks and Recreation for 27 years beginning in 1975.

Personal: Lives in Pueblo with his wife, Phyllis Baird.
