GPSA Meetings

Below is a list of remaining meetings dates for the GPSA during the 2018 calendar year. All meeting held on the third Monday from Jan. to May and Aug. through Nov. in the GPSA at Massari Arena. Dates are subject to change if necessary.

Application Deadline

The deadline for nominations each year is Aug. 1.  The 2018 Banquet is tentatively set for Wednesday, Nov. 14. Go to the Application Tab above to download and fill out an application today.

Frank A. "Iron Man" Slack

High School: Attended Leadville H.S., Leadville, CO

College:  Went to Colorado State College of Education (now the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO) and graduated in 1939...Frank competed in Football and wrestling for a year (1939) and baseball for three seasons (1936-39) as the teams pitcher...On the Bears baseball team, Frank played under legendary coach Pete Butler...Slack was best known for pitching both ends of a doubleheader sweep against against Regis on May 13, 1939, where he earned the nickname "Iron Man" for his incredible performance.

Coaching Background: Frank was the first wrestling coach at Pueblo Central H.S., in 1946.

    - University of Northern Colorado Hall of Fame (Class of 2000)
    - University of Northern Colorado Alumni Award (1976)
    - Pueblo Sports Hall Fame (1974)

Occupation: Slack was a Teacher/Coach in School District #60 at Pueblo Central H.S.

Personal: Slack lived in Pueblo and passed away on November 18, 1990.
