GPSA Meetings

Below is a list of remaining meetings dates for the GPSA during the 2018 calendar year. All meeting held on the third Monday from Jan. to May and Aug. through Nov. in the GPSA at Massari Arena. Dates are subject to change if necessary.

Application Deadline

The deadline for nominations each year is Aug. 1.  The 2018 Banquet is tentatively set for Wednesday, Nov. 14. Go to the Application Tab above to download and fill out an application today.

Edwin J. "Ed" Smith

High School: Attended Cawker City H.S., in Cawker City, KS.
College: Went to Ottawa University, Ottawa, KS where he played football (fullback), basketball (guard) and baseball (pitcher)...Smith was an All-Conference selection in football... Edwin later transferred to Ft. Hays State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree and was the Kansas Collegiate Champion while wrestling for the Tigers at 175 lbs.

Advanced Education: Continued his post-graduate studies working on a Masters Degree at Colorado College.

Coaching Background: Smith spend seven (7) years as the head football coach at Pueblo Centennial H.S. from 1944-50...The Bulldogs under his direction went 52-19-4 and won the 1946 State Football Championship, going unbeaten (11-0-0)...Edwin also coach wrestling and track.

Occupation: Smith was a Teacher/Coach/Administrator at Pueblo Centennial H.S., as well as the first (Athletic) Activities Director in School District #60.

Personal: Edwin lived in Pueblo with his wife, Margaret Boyer...He passed away on June 18, 2001.
